FEW WORDS TO SWEAR BY AS WE BEGIN THIS NEW YEAR!
Let's have a look at few words to swear by, as we begin this new year:
THINK- "Thinking is the capital, Enterprise is the way, Hard Work is the solution". This line in 'Ignited Minds' never fails to mesmerize me. How beautifully this quote by Late.Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam sums it all.
Every one of us have aims in our lives. They may be short term objectives, long term goals, career milestones or anything like that. And a prerequisite for achieving it is; thinking. For an idea, solution or a process to strike us, we at least have to be thinking about it. No matter at what stage we are, we have to be thinking about our goals endlessly. It is only during this thinking phase when Eureka moments strike us. These are the moments which finally help us navigate and concretize our ideas.
ACT- There is nothing more frustrating than wanting to do something and still not doing it. Avoid such deadlocks. It pulls you down, affects your mood, reduces productivity, make things worse. Do whatever possible, NOW. Do it NOW. Do not wait for perfection. There is nothing like perfection. Perfection according to me is just mind telling you to wait till you are ready to do something. And that 'ready' thing never happens. Do not let your fears get an upper hand. Do whatever you want to do, even if you think that wouldn't work.
MAKE PEACE WITH PEOPLE AROUND YOU- A famous quote reads, "Sometimes, people around you won't understand your journey. They don't need to. It's not for them." Live these words. Do not always get yourself into clarifying and explaining each and everything to everyone. If they don't understand you, it's perfectly ok. You too do not understand them either. Right? So make peace with yourself and with people around you.
Respect everyone and march ahead.
INVEST TIME WISELY- Keep a constant watch over how you invest your time. There is a direct correlation between time spent by you on a particular activity and the results you get for that. An advice by Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba group sums it all; he says, "Please remember that the world keeps changing every day. If you don't change, you will be left behind. You reap what you sow with your time. If you spend time to complain, you may become a blamer. If you spend time to beautify yourself, you may become a pretty girl/handsome guy. If you spend time to stay healthy, you may enjoy a healthy good life. If you spend time to be picky, you may become a mean person. If you spend time to learn, you may gain wisdom. If you spend time with your family, you may foster a warm and loving relationship with your loved ones."
These words have it all. It's not a rocket science.
Remember. If you have something that others don't, it is because you worked for it. You spent time for it. They did not.
If others have something that you don't, it's because they worked for it. They spent time for it. You did not.
It's plain logic. Make sure, whatever you are doing today should get you closer to what you want tomorrow.
DON'T JUDGE-Never judge others. No matter what they are up to, do not fall into 'according-to-me' trap. Having opinions is good, but that does not qualify you to be a judge. Consider most judged trait on this earth; gossip.
I take full responsibility as I write this.
Gossip overdose (note that 'overdose' word to be elaborated later) is one most destructive thing 'according-to-me'. But that does not mean I can judge someone based on this. If someone gossips; it's not accidental, they chose to. It's their choice. And if it is a choice, I am no one to judge it. It is their life, their time. They would decide what to do with it. Not me or anyone else. [By the way, a little gossip once in a while is good for networking. After all, entire concept of grapevine communication rests on it. This was the reason for that suffix 'overdose' above :) ]
Keep a close watch on your perspective and let this quote by A.Nin do the rest; "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."
BE FLEXIBLE- Be obstinate about your goal but not about ways of achieving it. Once we have a clear picture in mind and a roadmap to tread ahead, we might think it's all done. But this does not happen often. The surroundings in which we operate might not always remain same, our resources might fluctuate, our team might disintegrate, our government might change some policy, a policy change might affect our plans in ways beyond imagination. Everything, everyday might not remain in our control. In such scenario, we have to adapt, we have to change, have to tweak our controllable variables to get in tune with uncontrollable variables. Randomness is bound to chip in. Do not get distracted by it. Keep moving ahead. Let the law of entropy prevail and when it will all finish, you will discover it was never random.
As evident, it is only an indicative list and not an exhaustive one. So, go on and add more words to it, would love to hear.
